Assistant Vice President - Business Development, Global Reinsurance

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the administration and implementation of the annual Business Development and Marketing plan. To ensure the division value proposition is adhered to and the Business Development and Marketing plan is kept current and followed.

What you'll be doing:

• Partner alongside the President and Management Committee to determine new business development goals and marketing focus.
• Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Business Development group.
• Oversee the implementation and functionality of the CRM tool.  Train employees and ensure it is implemented and used effectively. Maintain and keep the broker and cedant contact database current.
• Manage and support divisional KPI’s
• Partner with the Markel Events team to organize Global Re events that promote brand or generate business.
• Provide the Markel Communications team, on a regular cadence, with information & stories that promote the Global Reinsurance brand, raises awareness of business opportunities, and informs the public. 
• Provide quarterly updates for Global Re’s Leadership Committee, as well as Markel’s senior leadership.
• Generate and lead an underwriter schedule for broker interaction and engagements ensuring appropriate representation at all meetings/events, including a cross-sell approach
• Strategically target where underwriters should focus to increase their new business goals.
• Prepare broker and client presentations in advance of meetings.

What we're looking for:

• 5+years experience coordinating and managing marketing / business development initiatives/projects.  
• Self-starter
• Independently motivated
• Superb communicator – both written & oral
• Ability to speak to all levels of the organization
• Confidence to speak in front of large groups
• Able to be outwardly facing on occasion and an ambassador for Global Re
• Experience in the re/insurance industry advantageous, but not a requirement
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Travel:  25%
