Research Technician III

The Tulane University Center for Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics is seeking a research technician III. This is a full-time position that will involve sample preparation, routine cell culture, mass spectrometry operation, data reporting, routine instrument and lab maintenance, supply ordering, and making general lab chemicals. Facility instruments include a mixture of LCMS/MS instruments.

A thorough understanding of how Mass Spectrometry works, basic chemistry, and biology

Routine cell culture, protein extraction

A thorough understanding of the quantitative criteria involved in selecting analytical methods (e.g., precision, accuracy/bias, sensitivity, detection and quantification limits, and dynamic range) and their corresponding figures of merit

Demonstrated knowledge of LC-MS/MS

Demonstrated knowledge of mass spectral libraries

Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Good mathematical skills and experience performing calculations in Excel
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree

1 year of basic laboratory research experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity and prior experience running Mass Spectrometry instruments will be viewed favorably.
