About you and this role

Dow has an opportunity for an Electrical Reliability/Maintenance Engineer located at the St. Charles Operations (SCO) site in Hahnville, LA. This position has the primary responsibility to provide electrical maintenance support to the Energy and Environmental plants at SCO.  This role provides technical expertise for all Instrument and Electrical equipment in the plant, including electrical distribution, instrumentation, and analyzer equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in electrical and instrumentation equipment failures & repair techniques during root cause investigations.
  • Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Support turnarounds and emergency repairs of critical I&E equipment.
  • Develop and review maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in development of the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy.
  • During development of turnaround work provide input on development of work orders particularly on critical equipment requiring engineering review or input.
  • Improve Asset Mechanical Reliability (AMR) to meet plant objectives.
  • Complete RCI failure analysis and assigned RCI action items based on trigger criteria.
  • Demonstrate leadership towards site and department safety goals.
  • Lead the development of OD, PPM and spare parts strategy for plant I&E equipment.
  • Develop personal goals and action plans for I&E equipment reliability.
  • Mentor less experienced maintenance engineers, maintenance specialists, and technicians on the team
  • Participate and attend site/business reliability networks and teams.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant military experience at an E6 rank or higher or Petty Officer 2nd Class is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience is required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree discipline in electrical engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience (electrical background).
  • Previous experience with Medium or High Voltage equipment.
  • Previous experience with Electrical Distribution or Power Generating equipment.
  • Previous experience with High Voltage distribution Switchgear, Relays, Variable Frequency Drives, or UPS systems.
  • Previous experience with Instrumentation and Analyzers.
