Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Business Insurance (BI) Financial Planning & Analysis is a fast-paced department with high visibility to BI Leadership and is responsible for providing financial & analytical support to business partners across BI.

This Sr. Financial Consultant, Strategic Initiatives position will have a primary focus of supporting strategic initiatives and will have some exposure to supporting various market intelligence analyses. The strategic initiative responsibilities include providing financial modeling & financial analysis to support the establishment of and tracking of key results aligned to business objectives which ultimately influence the multi-year plan. The market intelligence responsibilities include analyzing economic, market and competitor information to keep the pulse of the industry and inform partners of any new or changing trends.

To be successful in this role, the Sr. Financial Consultant, Strategic Initiatives must work collaboratively up and down, across the Business Insurance FP&A Team, the broader finance organization, and a diverse group of business partners to actively understand their various analytics needs. This individual will need to gain a solid understanding of the various strategic capabilities being built and provide timely and relevant updates to the BI Finance community as needed.

What Will You Do?

  • Prepare, evaluate, and validate financial and operational reports, actively engage in the tracking of key results and capability leading indicator metrics against established targets while interacting with cross functional peers on a frequent basis.
  • Analyze, perform financial analysis, both routine and ad hoc, to interpret trends and variances in business performance, competitor results, distribution, and topics relevant to the P&C industry.
  • Perform testing, validation of data, analyses for in-flight and post implementation monitoring of strategic investments to assess benefit realization of key capabilities.
  • Synthesize and present exhibits, results, observations, and recommendations to direct manager, team members and/or cross functional peers.
  • Support your financial and business partners in the creation of analyses to support business strategy.
  • Review competitor press releases, SEC filings, and industry trade press for helpful insights, linking key themes together.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in finance or accounting, or professional designations such as CPA, CMA or comparable advanced professional education.
  • Experience with Financial Analysis concepts and processes and accounting practices and principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business partners.
  • Ability to analyze data to interpret trends and provide insights to management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle shifting priorities.
  • Strong desire to learn, research, and find answers to questions efficiently and completely. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Financial Reporting Software (e.g. TM1, Essbase, Hyperion, etc.).
