We are actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Supplier Manager to join our dynamic team. As a key player in our mission to revolutionize proteomics, your role will be instrumental in shaping the future of this rapidly evolving field. Your responsibilities will extend beyond the conventional spectrum of supply chain management, and into the realm of strategic leadership, energizing our team with your motivational hands-on approach. Leveraging your expertise, you'll collaborate closely with our development and commercial teams to translate intricate product and customer requirements into cutting-edge supply chain strategies. This will involve building and managing relationships with key reagent suppliers and negotiating long-term agreements that optimize project schedules, cost, quality, and lead times. Furthermore, you will establish a CMO supply base, oversee forecasting and planning, negotiate supply contracts, and create a comprehensive distribution strategy to support global commercial sales. This position reports to our Sr. Director, Reagent Production. This position is based in San Carlos, CA and requires a daily onsite presence.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Nautilus development and commercial teams to comprehend next-gen product/customer needs and devise supply chain strategies that align with our objectives.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with critical reagent suppliers; negotiate long-term commercial agreements that satisfy project schedules, supply continuity, cost, quality, and lead time.
- Establish CMO supply base for production and distribution of Nautilus reagents; oversee ongoing CMO performance metrics and relationships.
- Develop RFQ’s and supplier qualification criteria; supervise supplier selection with a cross-functional team.
- Implement a system for managing forecasting and planning to support internal and customer demand; ensure timely supply of reagents.
- Negotiate supply contracts and costs to support commercial requirements.
- Formulate a distribution and fulfillment strategy that supports global commercial sales of reagents and ensures inventory management specifications are implemented and maintained.
- Create project schedules and manage timelines and deliverables to ensure timely project completion.
- Evolve supplier relationships from purchase order-based to long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to support all administrative processes associated with supply chain activities.
- Assist in the implementation of ERP and purchasing systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7+ years of experience in supply chain development and management at a life sciences company.
- Some supervisory experience is required.
- Ability to work under tight schedules and drive projects at high speed.
- Experience working effectively on highly performing cross-functional teams.
- Experience presenting project updates and proposals to executive teams.
- Prior experience launching new products into commercial production.
- Experience working with reagent CMO’s and knowledge of global supplier options.
- Proven track record of successful supplier partnership development.
- Experience with successful supplier negotiations and understanding of critical contractual terms.
- Basic understanding of business finance such as, P&L management, inventory management principles, margin calculations and ability to use this information for critical decision-making.
- Working knowledge of distribution, logistics, and shipping processes associated with reagents.
- Prior experience implementing an ERP system and purchasing systems.
- Strong organization, communication, problem solving, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
