Provide senior-level project support to the Laboratory and GPM Mission Science teams. This position ensures the smooth execution of all daily activities, manages government property and documentation, and supports special projects, meetings, and events. The role requires independent judgment, attention to detail, and a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform complex and confidential project support related functions to ensure assigned department operations flow smoothly. Work independently and within a team on special and nonrecurring/ongoing projects. Compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents
• Act as a project manager for special projects, at the request of the manager and/or customer which may include planning and coordinating multiple presentations, disseminating information, and organizing events. Arrange programs, events, or conferences by arranging for facilities and catering, audio/visual coordination for presentations, issuing information or invitations, coordinating speakers, and monitoring event budget and preparing post-conference reports
• Manage a variety of daily activities. Order, receive, and maintain office supplies for Lab, approvals. Act a property custodian for Lab handling over 300 pieces of Government tagged equipment both onsite/offsite. Coordinate with manager and customers to acquire appropriate badges for staff and visitors for both the work site and access to customer sites. Direct preparation of records such as agenda, notices, minutes, and resolutions for meetings
• Act as custodian of GPM project documents and records. Direct preparation and filing of documents to conform to directives and statutes. Create and maintain data base and spreadsheet files for both GPM and Code 612. Also maintain refereed publication databases for both Code 612 and GPM Project as well as submitting them into STRIVES for required approvals.
• Handle Lab purchases through both SAP (PRs)/Gov’t Pcard and grant funding through SAP PRs
• Manage printing of posters for Division 610 personnel for scientific meetings/conferences as well as maintaining large format printer/plotter and ordering supplies when necessary
• Assist in financial record keeping as well as assisting lab resource analyst with report/workbooks
Requirements:
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; skilled in preparing official correspondence, presentations, and meeting documentation.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements.
• Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficient in NASA GSFC systems (SAP, STRIVES) and related property, procurement, and financial processes.
• Demonstrated expertise in NASA property management, procurement, and reconciliation procedures.
• Agile and decisive in fast-paced environments, with the ability to communicate clear direction to staff and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical thinker with the ability to make informed decisions and develop innovative solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Proactive and customer-focused, with exceptional problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet customer needs.
• Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job. Some travel may be required.
Minimum education and experience:
Bachelors degree and five years of experience or 8 or more years of experience in lieu of degree.
