Summary

The M & R District Supervisor - Structures & Custodial is a full-time Civil Service position in the Metro Parks and Recreation department.  The primary duties of this position consist of coordinating and assisting in overseeing the activities of the structures and custodial divisions.  The incumbent is a working supervisor and must be able to physically participate in strenuous work and be able to work from heights. Knowledge of ADA guidelines and OSHA regulations is needed to identify current and future maintenance needs and make long range plans to ensure future needs are met.


This position will be expected to be on call and required to work after hours including nights or weekends as needed.


Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. Examples of duties

  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates employees.
  • Ensures that work is performed correctly, efficiently, and in a safe manner.
  • Manage contractor projects for Metro Parks.
  • Plans maintenance and repair projects.
  • Meets and coordinates activities with supervisors
  • Prioritizes work orders and projects. Requests and determines the manpower, equipment, and supplies needed.
  • Conducts staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Studies and reviews work and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Counsels with employees and performs disciplinary action.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams.
  • Assign duties to Structures and Custodial personnel.
  • Inspects completed jobs and projects for quality assurance.
  • Investigates and resolves or makes recommendations to resolve problems and complaints.
  • Answers inquiries from the public.
  • Requisitions equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Keeps accurate records and prepares detailed reports.
  • Work above ground level inspecting roofs
  • May operate, tow, or transport equipment or commercial motor vehicles.
  • Performs administrative duties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent and��six (6) years of construction, maintenance and repair experience, including two (2) years experience in a supervisory capacity.

LICENSES REQUIRED:  Valid Driver License
