The Vice President, Delivery Center is the senior technology leader and key member of the Delivery Center Leadership team, responsible for maintaining and advancing the delivery of the Underwriting product portfolio.  It is the delivery center leader’s role to be proactively developing and scaling talent, monitoring for and championing new delivery approaches, and advancing ideas and culture shifts that accelerate cost-efficient delivery of the product vision.  This is done through deep collaboration and partnerships with other areas of the organization including the Business Engagement, Enterprise Architecture and Portfolio Management functions.

The delivery center organizations are functionally aligned to the business which allows for greater reuse of technology capabilities and deeper specialization on core competencies such as Actuarial Science, Administration, Investments, or Underwriting.

Principal Duties:

Strategy, Vision, and Leadership

  • Provides executive level leadership, vision, and direction for a product engineering organization through managers and technical architecture staff and across multiple systems and workstreams.

  • ​Partners closely with the Business Engagement function to understand and support the development of product roadmaps and ensure alignment of the delivery center’s operations roadmaps and investments.

  • Partners closely with Enterprise Architecture to maintain strategic alignment, gain architectural guidance, manage risks, foster innovation adoption, optimize resources, and drive continuous improvement across IT initiatives and operations.

  • Accountable for continuous improvement of the delivery center’s tools, processes and support resulting in measurable improvements in both mid-term and long-term results. Accountable for the delivery center budget, with ongoing focus on personnel, vendor, and capital expenditures.

Talent Management Responsibilities

  • Leads, manages, and directs the activities of the department in all aspects of supervisory duties, including, developing effective people strategies, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports.  Fosters a positive and engaged work environment.  Mentors and leads functional management, first line managers, and associates.

  • Build a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness.

Operations

  • Ensure accountability for performance and results of the product engineering teams’ delivery of the technology components of the division’s strategic roadmaps.

  • Lead engineering teams and other stakeholders to set goals for improving product quality, maintainability, security, and scalability and monitor progress against these goals. Accountable for overall production and performance of development in production and meeting all relevant service level commitments.

  • Implement and manage software development status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks.

  • Ensure that systems comply with relevant policy, contractual, statutory, and regulatory obligations.

  • Oversee management of relationships with consultants, vendors, and contractors and support negotiation of statements of work and business terms with suppliers.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) with technology as a core component. preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5+ Years experience in direct people management required

  • 10+ Years experience in a project management, programming, or systems analysis required

  • 5+ Years in a managerial role with multimillion dollar budget oversight and accountability. preferred

License and Certification:

Relevant business credentials including LOMA certifications. Preferred
