Additional Information: The successful candidate will have experience teaching in CTE classrooms/programs and hold a CTE teaching certificate.  We are specifically looking for a person who can support the skilled trades CTE programs/classes.

SUMMARY

Under the immediate direction and supervision of the Director of Innovative Learning & CTE, this position provides the necessary oversight and professional development in the planning, coordination and implementation of innovative learning and development initiatives, to include the development and scale of instructional elements and curriculum associated with Tacoma Flex, pathway/partner onboarding, communication, and marketing associated with pipeline development for Jobs 253 and Jobs 253 Credentialed programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.Provides instructional professional development to assigned staff. Identifies, demonstrates, encourages and provides on-site staff development and instructional coaching support to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about program components and understand the accountability aspects toward a high performing school.

2.Plans cooperatively with District or school staff in the design, development and delivery of all assigned projects, programs and curriculum.

3.Facilitates and maintains communication between District, project team, parents and school site(s) staff regarding information about the assigned projects or programs.

4.Represents the District, project or program Director and school site(s) as necessary and assists with leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the assignment.

5.Assists with overall responsibility for monitoring program(s) budget and advises designated Supervisor on necessary expenditures.

6.Plans and conducts necessary meetings as related to special assignment.

7.Responsible for receiving, distributing, and replying to special assignment communications.

8.Motivates project/program participants to develop skills and attitudes that foster success.

9.Participates with the appropriate District administration to develop the method by which the special assignment is evaluated.

10.Serves as a resource person to ensure program goals meet the specialized need of students.

11.Assists the teachers in maintaining a classroom atmosphere/environment conducive to learning and highest student achievement.

12.  Provides instructional support to the school community in the full implementation of the assigned projects or programs.

13.Keeps abreast of current research applicable to the assigned projects or programs.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

1.Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities, workshops and conferences as needed or as assigned.

2.Manages special projects and performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.

3.      Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

CONDITIONS

Experiences frequent interruptions; may be required to attend meetings beyond regular work hours; occasionally required to work an extended workday and required to travel to District and community sites; may be required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with appropriate educational endorsement and five years successful teaching experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work. Master’s degree preferred in Curriculum and Instruction or related area.
