We are looking for a Distribution Supervisor to join our Hawthorne Gardening team in Tracy, CA!

The Warehouse Supervisor provides leadership for workers in the distribution center and is responsible for upholding all safety and quality policies for the site. This role requires in-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, including overseeing receiving, inventory, and shipping, with a focus on monitoring and improving performance across these departments. The ideal candidate will motivate employees to meet organizational expectations and goals, implement lean six sigma tools and routines to identify improvement opportunities, and upskill and develop leaders within the team. The supervisor will have 5 lead associates reporting directly to them, and is expected to lead them in a way that creates autonomy and fosters long-term improvement.

In this role you will:

  • Uphold all safety and quality policies and procedures within the Tracy, CA distribution center.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Ensure all employees are trained on safety protocols.
  • Investigate and report any safety incidents or violations, including coaching associates involved.
  • Monitor and improve performance across receiving, inventory, and shipping departments.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for each department.
  • Implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Address performance issues and provide coaching to team members.
  • Motivate, manage, and develop warehouse staff, fostering autonomy and process ownership.
  • Provide clear communication, set goals, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Identify and develop high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
  • Implement lean six sigma tools and routines to identify and execute improvement opportunities.
  • Identify areas for process improvement through data analysis and observation.
  • Lead or participate in process improvement projects.
  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of changes.
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes across all departments.
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities in receiving, inventory, and shipping.
  • Ensure that all departments have the resources they need to operate effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2- 4 years of experience preferred
  • Coordination: Ability to effectively organize and synchronize various activities within the warehouse, ensuring smooth workflows between different departments (receiving, inventory, and shipping).
  • Leadership: Skill in managing and directing the work of warehouse staff, providing guidance, assigning tasks, and ensuring that employees are meeting performance expectations.
  • Operational Planning: Competence in developing and implementing plans for warehouse operations, including resource allocation, scheduling, and process optimization, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve operational issues and challenges that may arise in the warehouse, such as delays, errors, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Decision-Making: Capacity to make timely and sound judgments in a fast-paced warehouse environment, often under pressure, to maintain operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information, instructions, and expectations to warehouse staff, as well as to interact with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Capacity to adjust to changing circumstances, such as unexpected delays, new priorities, or changes in demand, and to modify plans and approaches as needed to maintain operational effectiveness.

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $88,700.00 - $104,400.00. Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.Fo
