Purpose of the Position
The Chief of Staff is a multi-faceted position that plays a critical role in the organization serving as a trusted business manager, advisor and manager of personal affairs for the Chairman & Founder. The scope of the position includes oversight of the day-to-day schedule of the Chairman, including the advanced preparation of all meeting materials, supporting the coordination of critical business initiatives, change management, partnering with the various business entities to help with the preparation of key corporate materials including board
presentations, executive communications, and corporate performance dashboards, and ensures timely operationalization of executive decisions. The Chief of Staff also ensures that all personal and family commitments are managed effectively and properly integrated into his schedule. The responsibilities are
delivered through a high performing team, working with the highest sense of urgency and attention to detail. The Chief of Staff serves as the connector and linchpin between the Chairman and the organization. This position will amplify the CEO's reach and leverage, ensuring strategic initiatives and key relationships are met for the Chairman.
Key Responsibilities
Arthur M. Blank (Chairman & Founder) has a need for a new Chief of Staff to serve him and the Arthur M. Blank Family of Businesses. The successful candidate for this role will lead the evolution of the function from purely administrative to a strategic partner to the business. In this role, the successful individual will be responsible for:
- Managing the day-to-day business and personal affairs of the Chairman and his office
- Oversight of both Personal and Professional Calendar, Schedule and Correspondence Management (the Chairman handles the majority of his correspondence, the CoS will sometimes need to write and respond on his behalf)
- Attends business meetings and tracks follow ups for the Chairman
- Oversees daily and weekly written reports (which communicate updates/statuses on outstanding personal and business-related matters) to the Chairman comp
