About the role

Provides clinical, fiscal and leadership direction for the assigned unit. This position is responsible for 24 hour, seven day a week patient care management. Implements and monitors fiscal and clinical indicators to meet nursing unit goals and standards; this role serves as the key link between the unit staff and nursing and hospital administrative staff. Collaborates with all disciplines to promote communication and integrated services for patient care; functions within policies, practice guidelines and nursing standards of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Leadership experience
  • Excellent Quality Nursing Care skills
  • Responsible for oversight of the provision of professional nursing care according to the Hospital’s philosophy of patient care and standards of professional nursing practice.
  • Responsible for managing the resources necessary to provide patient-focused care that is seamless, cost-effective and outcome oriented.
  • Promotes and participates in ongoing quality improvement activities, and is invested in preventing error from reaching the patients.
  • Must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities detailed in this document;
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability, creating a favorable image in relationship to the Nursing Department and the hospital as a whole;
  • Must develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility.
  • Must visibly demonstrate commitment to customer relations and all basic concepts of continuous quality improvement and preventing error from reaching the patient;
  • Provides timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers, including patients, families, co-workers and physicians.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN required
  • Masters in health related field or enrolled in a program within 12 months of hire

License/Certification:

  • Current Massachusetts licensure
  • BLS competent
  • Unit specific certifications
