Senior Systems EngineerAbout your role:
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be a crucial member of the team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Fiserv's complex systems infrastructure. Your expertise will play a significant role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our systems, enabling seamless operations that support our clients' business needs. You will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Work within enterprise-class Microsoft platforms running on Intel servers.
What you'll do:
- Lead the design, troubleshoot, and monitor systems infrastructure to meet business and client requirements.
- Implement and manage upgrades and enhancements to system architecture and infrastructure.
- Interact with customers and appropriate representatives to analyze, validate, verify, document, and manage the requirements of large-scale projects.
- Participate in designing, debugging, and running fault tolerant large-scale distributed systems.
- Enable the adoption and implementation of cloud-based application reliability, resiliency, and observability /deployment best practices for production & non-prod environments including public cloud migration of our mission critical applications from the on-prem datacenters.
- Build infrastructure and drive projects that break things with the aim to improve the robustness of production systems.
- Observe patterns and develop innovative tools and automation to minimize toil. Use those learnings to drive the best operational practices.
- Partner with security engineers and develop plans and automation to aggressively and safely respond to new risks and vulnerabilities.
Experience you'll need to have:
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering in an enterprise environment.
- 4+ years of experience with system design and implementation.
- 2+ years of experience with Linux and Windows server environments.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- 2+ years of experience with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
- Possess an understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as: HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, subnetting and load balancing strategies.
- 4+ years of an equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation
- Certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible or Terraform.
- Experience with tools & technologies such as Dynatrace, Splunk and Moogsoft.
- Familiarity with API Gateways and reverse proxies including Apigee and F5 APM.
How you’ll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
- This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotational basis.
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
