SUMMARY: The EHS Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, communication, and coordination of all environmental, health, safety, and security programs for the company.  This position will provide strategic and tactical leadership and direction relative to the EHS&S program.  Implement and manage site specific processes to reduce or eliminate accidents, workplace hazards, unsafe acts, and environmental liabilities.  Through advising, directing, and training of all employees, in addition to maintaining documentation, ensures compliance with all corporate, federal, state, and local requirements for health, safety, and environment.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Provide leadership and demonstrate management commitment to EHS&S performance assurance and compliance as a core value and leading priority.

  • Recognize health, safety, and environmental hazards in the workplace.  Evaluate, recommend, and implement controls to eliminate unsafe acts and conditions. 

  • Direct and train managers and employees on complying with corporate, federal, state, and local guidelines, policies, and regulations such as OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and site rules and programs.

  • Ensure compliance and properly manage reporting with all required agencies and regulations as well as reporting to Oshkosh Corporation.

  • Leads inspections and tours of facilities to detect existing or potential incidents, fire, and health hazards; deviations from corporate standards, and recommends corrective or preventative actions.

  • Responsible for the communication and maintenance of all EHS&S related policies and procedures.

  • May serve as liaison with local fire departments, area hospitals and other outside agencies regarding employee safety and health programs.

  • Investigate injuries, near-miss accidents, and environmental incidents in conjunction with line and staff personnel to determine causes and take corrective actions to prevent future incidents.  Prepares legally required reports and any regular or special reports for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.  Attends hearings as required.  Notify appropriate senior managers of pertinent details and solutions in a timely manner.

  • Effectively manage incident cases with all departments and associations and medical professionals including Workers’ Comp as appropriate.  Prepare legally required reports and attend hearings and investigations as required.

  • Provide effective safety training and development for managers and employees including new hire safety orientation, incident and fire prevention and protection, and other employee safety and health programs.

  • Maintain EHS&S policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate, conduct assessments, and develop improvements as needed.

  • Maintain and analyze site accident statistics and lead efforts to identify and correct unsatisfactory trends.

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging regulations and standards and ensure organizational compliance.

  • Develop and communicate a cooperative relationship with all Federal, State, and Local authorities that impact our business in the areas of Health, Safety & Environment.

  • Lead and oversee Management Steering Committee and Plant Safety Committee.

  • Manage and administer hazardous waste tracking, disposal and reporting.

  • Manage and direct the security contractor(s) for Jetway Ogden facilities to ensure employee safety and protection of company property.

  • Manage EHS&S department expenses and budget.

  • Manage employee random and required drug testing as required by OSHA and Company policies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience.

  • One (1) or more years of management experience.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Hazardous Material Standards and Applications.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified Safety Professional.
