We are currently searching for an exceptional Staff Engineer, QA to join our team in Corona, CA.

The Staff Engineer for Quality Assurance will address the quality rejections and complaints from internal process customers, through the analysis of the issues reported, the implementation of containment actions, determination of disposition and the coordination and execution of RCA to avoid recurrence, involving all parties required: implement and maintain corresponding testing methods to assure the compliance of the product per customer’s specifications, processing the applicable quality disposition Change Orders, develop training material and provide training in relation with Quality Control functions, analyze levels and trends of internal and external quality to promote the improvement, provide technical support to the internal process customers and keep communication as required, and support documental requirements (i.e., CoCs) per internal process customer’s needs.

 Responsibilities

  • Helping to define and continuously revise the quality goals of the areas of responsibility.
  • Keeping track of the performance of the areas of responsibility and report the results to the management team and personnel involved.
  • Ensuring that the actions required to improve the quality performance of the areas of responsibility are taken and sustained through time.
  • Coordinating the process audits in the areas of responsibility.  
  • Documenting and reporting audits results and follow-up closure of non-conformances found.
  • Working with marketing and R&D in the revision or definition of the quality criteria for the products produced in the areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring proper use of the Quality module in SAP.
  • Working towards the execution of projects to improve yield in the areas of responsibility using the DMAIC methodology
  • Performing other essential duties as assigned.
  • Supervising three (3) finished product inspectors.
  • Leading, Coaching, and participating in A3 Problem Solving projects

Education & Qualifications

  • B/S degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or a related field of study, or the equivalent level of professional experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of manufacturing experience with background in either woodworking, industrial painting or electronics with at least three (3) years working within Quality.
  • Fully committed to supporting the Quality of Fender products from both customer and company perspective.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish to ensure understanding on the shop floor and within various levels of management.
  • Leadership/people management skills and experience.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in the use of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies is HIGHLY desirable.
  • Ability to make independent, impartial, and appropriate decisions under pressure from others who desire to influence those decisions (exercises good judgment).
  • Superior sense of and demonstrated level of integrity.
  • Strong sense of team work.
  • Desire to grow within the field of Quality.
  • Measuring skills and experience utilizing inspection tools to obtain accurate dimensional measurements on a variety of parts, components and raw material; calipers, micrometer, scales, digital multi-meter, hand tools, soldering equipment, electronic test equipment, heat gauge, among others.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Musician or music enthusiastic a plus
  • Green Belt / Black Belt a plus
