Job Overview
We are currently seeking a US Medical Affairs, Hematology Strategy Summer Intern who will gain hands-on, real-world experience in the pharmaceutical industry. As an intern, you will work on projects that improve your leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, while gaining cross-functional exposure and networking opportunities. You will have a focus on the US market Medical Affairs hematology strategy, and work with knowledgeable mentors to develop skills to build a strong career foundation.
What you’ll do (Specific Responsibilities)
- Gain exposure to medical affairs hematology strategies and tactics in the US market that are intended to ensure the safe and effective use of our medicines as well as increasing the awareness of treatment options for healthcare professionals and patients
- Learn the latest trends, developments, and competitive landscape in the US market, particularly within the hematology space, and how to use this knowledge to inform and adapt to the US Medical Affairs strategy
- Participate in the planning and execution of a “Competitor Journal Club Presentation” with opportunities to perform scientific publication intelligence, analyze key competitors’ publications, communicate/present findings to internal business partners, and lead discussions on strategic implications
- Learn medical affairs strategies and competencies to support clinical development and commercialization
- Understand biopharma/biotech companies’ business functions, roles, and responsibilities through supporting the design and content development of an interactive cross-functional workshop with functional teams across the matrix.
- Have a taste of external though leader engagement, exercise strategic thinking, and gain project management experience by assisting with speaker selection, agenda development, content creation, and event logistics for “Genmab Lymphoma Day” planning.
- Use creative problem-solving skillsets, develop new ideas and insights, including takeaways about yourself as a leader and individual contributor
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
The ideal candidate is inquisitive, ambitious, hardworking and has a strong interest in the pharmaceutical industry, including the following:
- Earned or currently in later years of pursuing an advanced degree in the life sciences field (e.g., PharmD, PhD)
- Proficient with scientific/medical data and nomenclature
- Has a desire to become proficient in effectively communicating complex scientific information to various stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership in campus/community activities is desired
- Able to work independently, proactively, and part of a group, with curiosity and flexibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess a "can-do" approach and courage to speak your voice and suggest innovative ideas
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
