Job Summary:
We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE I for Duke Urogynecology located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform procedures under the supervision of physicians, assist the medical provider during examination, and provide patient care including pre and post-operative teaching.
- Perform telephone and electronic medical record triage, provide medical advice and refill requests, complete insurance and FMLA forms, requests for prior authorizations, schedule appointments, review lab results and treat patients per protocols under the supervision of medical providers.
- Collect/prepare laboratory and blood specimens, perform on-site Point of Care laboratory tests, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
- Plan, provide and document professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the nurse manager, charge nurse or practice manager.
- Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriately nursing actions taken and patient responses.
- Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.
- Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
- Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
- All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Schedule:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends and holidays.
