Marketing and Communication Coordinator, UT Research Foundation - UT System

About the role

Reporting to the UTRF President and working closely with the Vice Presidents of the two UTRF offices, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for promoting UTRF, and UTRF's portfolio of technologies to both internal and external audiences, coordinating, and implementing marketing and communication strategies, to effectively reach a broad audience of stakeholders. Planning, organizing, executing and promoting all UTRF related events. 

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Content Creation

  • Coordinating with Vice Presidents and their licensing teams to solicit feedback on the monthly work plan such as events, materials, information. 
  • Coordinating with external contracted Public Relations/Marketing firm and UT System and campuses communications to assist in UTRF promotion and exposure. 
  • Uses Adobe Suite to regularly produce all digital and print marketing materials (including the magazine-style annual report, physical and digital signage, reports, presentations, graphics, and print materials, among other items).
  • Gathers content for, designs, executes and promotes the UTRF monthly notes to UT President and UTRF's monthly newsletter.
  • Produce, arrange or accumulate photos from various events and activities for promotional purposes. 
  • Selects and designs UTRF promotional items. 
  • Update UTRF's website to ensure accuracy and relevancy of content

Event Planning 

  • Event planning, coordinating, execution and promotion for at least two campus-wide events annually and multiple campus-specific, hybrid smaller events annually. This includes designing/creating all branding elements, needed print items, social sharing and any digital items. 
  • Manages RSVPS and communicates details to involved parties as needed.
  • Coordinates with vendors to meet event deadlines.

Brand Management

  • Maintain all aspects of UTRF web presence. This includes, but is not limited to; coordinating articles for posts, acquiring necessary imagery, creating/editing graphics, verifying all information, including names, titles, links, etc., writing and/or editing code, currently in Word press (CSS, html, javascript), and sharing information from UTRF website on social media as needed.
  • Provides primary creative direction for the organization's brand, implementing UT and UTRF brand standards across our content and platforms. 
  • Produces or edits written content to maintain brand consistency, style and structure.
  • Maintains social media presence across multiple platforms primarily on LinkedIn, implementing campaigns and highlighting content to increase UTRF positive public perception and heighten engagement. 
  • Actively monitors key media outlets and social media platforms for mentions of the organization or UTRF-related university news.
     

Communications & Marketing Strategy Development

  • Analyzes growth areas and implements action to increase public engagement with the organization.
  • Evaluates and updates current materials to maintain brand identity and engage new & existing audiences.
  • Works with external contracted Public Relations/Marketing firm to assist in UTRF promotion and exposure
  • Serves as an active member of the UT Communicators Network, attends weekly UT Communications meetings, and participates in various UT committees such as the UT Storytelling Committee and UT Branding Committee. 

A bachelor's degree and internship experience.

Additional skills, experiences, and qualifications include:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, to balance multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously.
  • Ability to create, edit, and troubleshoot in Adobe Creative Cloud software; specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and In Design. Layout design, photo editing, and illustration skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Word press (CMS) platform; must be able to create, edit, and distribute information via the UTRF website. Including, writing and editing code. 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Including the ability to create and edit presentation slides and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and visual.

Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of marketing and/or communications experience in a professional setting.  Experience in Science or Technology communication.
