Coordinates aquatic maintenance and repair of an Olympic-size competition pool and an aquatics center, regulating over 1,000,000 gallons of water, and specializes in skilled maintenance and repair work of aquatic facilities, including water slides, play structures, tower diving, and other amenities. The coordinator maintains chemical balances and related chemical testing and control systems, performs pump repairs, maintains filtration systems, and repairs geothermal heating and cooling systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management
• Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities
• Follows suggested procedures to ensure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety, and risk avoidance
• Coordinates projects and work activities with other divisions and oversees the efforts of contractors at assigned facilities
• Solicits and evaluates quotes from vendors and assists in bid package preparation for maintenance projects at assigned facilities
• Responds to service requests in a courteous and timely manner and resolves complaints
• Works closely with staff on facility operations; provides guidance and direction to skilled and unskilled personnel as needed
• Assists with preparation of budget estimates for renovation and maintenance projects
Technical
• Maintains safe and proper chemical-controlled aquatic facilities that meet or exceed health department, local, state, and federal standards
• Maintains the geothermal system that feeds into the pumps that are used to heat and cool the pool water while maintaining year-round pool temperatures of 82 degrees
• Maintains pumps and systems with the ability to either install or repair them
• Familiar with all types of filtration systems that include both manual and automated systems, including backwashing
• Requires understanding of the hydraulics of pool systems; maintains proper pool chemistry, including calibrating and adjusting chemical dispensers and controllers, calculates proper flow rates, collects water samples, and adjusts chemicals as needed
