The Environmental Aide provides cleaning services for a safe, sanitary, comfortable, and homelike environment for residents, staff and the public. Environmental services provided are in accord with facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• To maintain prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas following prescribed procedures and posted work schedules
• Cleans assigned areas including resident rooms, day rooms, offices, nursing stations, restrooms, isolation rooms
• Sanitizes assigned areas following appropriate protocol
• Transports and empties trash and sharp object receptacles
• Polishes floor surfaces areas by operating electric washing, scrubbing ,stripping, waxing and polishing equipment
• Performs other duties as required, such as cleaning light fixtures, wall vents, and moving furniture
• Daily cleans resident rooms to include bedside table, over bed table, spot-checking walls, emptying and relining trash container, dry/damp mopping or vacuuming floor
• Cleans resident rooms after resident has been discharged, using the department procedure for discharge cleaning

Position Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a building service worker/environmental aide a plus
• Previous work in a healthcare facility preferred
• Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Is cooperative and helpful; respects others; is friendly, courteous, and well mannered
• Flexible schedule, and available to work rotating weekends
