POSITION:
The Department of Advanced Studies in Education invites applications for a full-time appointment at the rank of Lecturer. The person appointed to this position will teach required courses and supervise field experiences in the Master of Arts in Counseling to Counselor Education students. This position will be mainly housed at our Turlock Campus. However, the appointment may include teaching at the Stockton campus. We are looking for a candidate with knowledge in all areas of Counselor Education. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of clinical mental health counseling, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, or School Counseling. Other responsibilities include guiding student research for the Master of Arts in Counselor Education; assuming leadership roles in the Department of Advanced Studies in Education, on campus, and in the field; serving as liaison to the accrediting agencies related to the Pupil Personnel Services credential and the Professional Clinical Counselor track that leads to licensure. Additional responsibilities include program development and implementation, service to community, county and district agencies, and professional organizations. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master of Arts or Science, from a regionally accredited university, emphasis in Counselor Education
• Applicant must have successfully taught counseling courses a minimum three years full, or part-time (6 semesters) in a college or university demonstrating a proven record of teaching
• Successful experience as a mental health or school counselor, or extensive use of counseling skills in current or previous employment
• Possess or be eligible for Licensed Professional Counselor, Pupil Personnel Services credential, or similar certification or license
• Strong interpersonal and consultation skills
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Experience with research design and methodology
• Strong supervision of counseling students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A potential candidate’s consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of experience in university teaching and supervision of counselor trainees (academic and clinical); experience with current technology relevant to counseling; knowledge of the regulations of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and local, state and national trends; experience as liaison to agencies that provide field experience in academic and clinical counseling.

COMPENSATION:
Salary is based on qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.
Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
