SUMMARY
The City of Charlotte, Charlotte Water Department, is accepting applications for the Training Assistant Co-op position for the Career Training Academy Co-op Program. This individual will work under the supervision of the Charlotte Water Workforce Development and Training Team of the Administration Division. The candidate can be a student currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a post-secondary education program in Training, Workforce Development, Human Resources, or related program of study.This position supports the Workforce Development & Training team by coordinating the planning, preparation, delivery, and follow-up of trainings offered to various employee groups, including all new hires, division-wide audiences, and participants in certificate programs. The role also assists with department-wide initiatives such as the annual employee engagement survey, Career Training Academy cohorts, summer internship programs, and an annual summer camp for children of water workers. Responsibilities include managing end-to-end training logistics, coordinating events and communications, maintaining program records, and supporting workshops and interactive learning sessions. Additionally, the position fosters partnerships with internal teams and community organizations to strengthen workforce readiness and program success.
The hourly rate for this position is $27/hr.
Full-time 40 hours per week
This position will expose the participant to daily work operations including but not limited to:
Fostering professional relationships within Charlotte Water and the community.
Coordinating meetings, calendars, and events around programming and communicates program details with community organizations and prospective candidates.
Communicating with internal and external partners to coordinate workshops and presentations for variety of cohorts.
Supporting training initiatives, workshops, and curriculum development to effectively align with program objectives and enhance participant enrichment.
Communicating to Charlotte Water staff about upcoming trainings (e.g., New Employee Orientation, Quarterly Customer Service trainings).
Providing administrative support for training sessions, including tracking participants, setting up training rooms, and providing certificates.
Facilitating portions of traditional training programs (e.g., New Employee Orientation, Quarterly Customer Service training).
Organizing and maintaining physical and digital filing systems to ensure easy retrieval of documents.
Managing office supplies inventory, including ordering, stocking, and distributing supplies as needed.
Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in office operations.
Performing other job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Post-secondary experience, a current or recent graduate of an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field of study specific to the departmental or work assignment. Must be available to work on average for 40 hours per week.
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Valid North Carolina Driver's License

Requires a valid driver's license.
