Summary
The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and implement organizational safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements policies, programs, training, procedures, and work instructions for safety, environmental compliance, and ISO 14001 standards to ensure conformity with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee regulatory compliance for air emissions, stormwater, hazardous waste, and chemical management in accordance with local/state/federal laws.
- Report plant safety and environmental performance to YKK AP Japan. Standing member of YKK AP Environmental Compliance Committee.
- Represents division in community or industry safety groups, environmental programs, and during regulatory inspections.
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in workplace safety practices, fire prevention, hazardous materials handling, and compliance with environmental policies.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing safety culture through employee engagement, near-miss reporting, and proactive hazard identification.
- Inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventive measures, and follows up to ensure implementation.
- Leads investigations of accidents and injuries, ensures development and follow-up of corrective action plans, and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for hearings, lawsuits, and insurance cases.
- Waste stream control and oversight, reporting monthly.
- Manage Recycle Program for raw materials and manufacturing processes.
- Maintains safety documentation, prepares, and submits required reports to regulatory agencies.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workplace Applications.
Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and is expected to use proper lifting techniques at all times. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee may occasionally be required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
Travel Requirements:
The travel required for this position is 10%.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. Individuals are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at designated times and in specified environments in accordance with established safety program requirements. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, fumes, vibration, and high temperatures.
