Job Description

The Aviation Construction Representative provides consistent on-site field coverage for airfield construction projects and serves as the project team’s primary source of real-time field awareness of which will be located in Dallas, TX. This role supports safe airfield operations, verifies that construction activities are proceeding in general conformance with approved plans and specifications, and provides timely field status updates to support informed decision-making by Project Managers (PMs) and Construction Managers (CMs).

This is an operationally critical, field-based role requiring strong situational awareness, discipline, and clear communication in active airfield environments.

Key Responsibilities

Field Coverage & Real-Time Awareness

  • Maintain an on-site presence aligned with contractor work windows, closures, and active operations.
  • Observe ongoing construction activities and confirm real-time work status (e.g., set-up complete, work in progress, ready for inspection).
  • Serve as the primary source of immediate field feedback for PMs and CMs.
  • Communicate changing field conditions promptly and accurately.

Field Verification & Early Issue Identification

  • Verify that installed materials and construction activities appear consistent with approved plans and specifications (e.g., pipe type, bedding, installation methods).
  • Identify discrepancies early and raise concerns before work progresses.
  • Support real-time issue resolution by notifying the contractor, QA, CM, and PM as appropriate.
  • Clearly distinguish between observations, concerns, and issues requiring escalation.

Safety & Airfield Operational Compliance

  • Verify daily airfield safety and operational items, including barricades, temporary lighting, temporary markings, and FOD control.
  • Support Part 139 operational readiness expectations, including ROFA, TOFA, RSA, and TSA requirements.
  • Confirm closure readiness prior to the start of work.
  • Identify and immediately escalate unsafe or non-compliant conditions.
  • Stop work only when immediate safety or operational risk is present.

Closures, Access, and Escorting

  • Support closure setup and breakdown in coordination with Operations and the contractor.
  • Confirm closure limits, access points, and required protection measures.
  • Escort contractors into restricted or controlled areas as required.
  • Coordinate access logistics to ensure work proceeds efficiently and safely.

Inspection Coordination

  • Support inspection activities by being present during construction work.
  • Assist in aligning inspections with active construction operations.
  • Flag items requiring QA attention in real time.
  • Support early identification and resolution of field issues to avoid late discovery during formal inspections.

Quantity Tracking & Daily Documentation

  • Support daily quantity tracking and verification activities.
  • Document quantities installed or progressed during each shift.
  • Provide field input to support pay quantities and reconciliation.
  • Escalate quantity discrepancies early to avoid late-stage reconciliation risk.

Daily Reporting & Communication

  • Complete or contribute to daily field reports documenting:
  • Work performed
  • Safety and operational items
  • Access issues
  • Inspections and quantities
  • Communicate end-of-day status and unresolved issues.
  • Ensure leadership has clear visibility into completed work, open items, and risks for upcoming shifts.
