Position Title: Vice President Technology - Product Management
Position Summary
The Vice President (VP) Technology – Product Management reports to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer and is responsible for leading JetBlue’s technology product portfolio. This role will be responsible for creating strategic product plans that align with JetBlue’s strategic direction and power a multi-year technology transformation. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in product management and technology delivery. They will also have demonstrated experience attracting top technology talent and building high-performing teams. This VP is an influential leader who is experienced in partnering closely with cross-functional leaders and external business partners to ensure alignment on priorities and business value. The ideal candidate can perform well in a dynamic environment, and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee JetBlue’s technology product portfolio
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment on product direction, priorities, and business value proposition
- Create business cases for new product development and ensure products deliver committed business value
- Develop strategic product plans and roadmaps that are aligned with JetBlue’s enterprise priorities and that will enable a multi-year technology transformation
- Identify new opportunities to leverage technology in ways that will elevate the Customer and Crewmember experience, while also balancing the need for ongoing incremental improvement
- Mature JetBlue’s product management capabilities to improve speed to market, increase predictability, and drive greater business value
- Partner closely with the VP of Engineering to outline solutions and execute on product roadmaps (resource allocation, prioritization, etc.)
- Build strong working relationships with external business partners
- Build high-performing teams, through a mix of attracting top external talent and developing existing crewmembers
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management Information Systems, or a computer science-related discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Ten (10) years of managing a large product portfolio, ideally within the airline industry
- Five (5) years of prior experience leading a large team
- Experience leading product portfolios that include both internally developed software and third party software products
- Experience with external vendor management, negotiation, issue resolution, and accountability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to translate technical topics into business language
- Experience providing high-quality customer service in a matrix structure with a commitment to exceeding expectations
- Demonstrated experience in delivering business value through product evolution in a large organization
- Available for frequent overnight travel (up to 40%)
- Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a Technology discipline or MBA
- Fifteen (15) years of IT experience, including eCommerce, front-line employee facing applications, and applications that enable complex business operations
- Prior experience working an IT role supporting web, mobile, reservations, call centers or related fields
- Knowledge of airline reservation systems and/or airline operating technology
Crewmember Expectations
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice.
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion
- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribe
