HealthPoint is offering paid, on-the-job training for those interested in pursuing a certification in Medical Assisting.

The apprentice training program providers its learners a structured learning environment that provides tools and skills to become confident and successful members of a healthcare team. 

The program begins on January 26, 2026. Applications must be submitted no later than December 19, 2025.

Below is a summary of the training program objectives and duties performed in this program:

Medical Assistance Apprentice will perform back-office functions including patient preparation, support of health care providers, laboratory procedures and clinic operations in a manner that promotes quality patient care.  Act as liaison between front office and provider for ensuring timely and orderly patient flow. This role will be an enrollee of the WACHC MA Apprenticeship Program. The performance of delegated clinical duties will be directed, supervised, and inspected by the appropriately credentialed staff. This program requires 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job-training and 410 hours of supplemental, unpaid course work. There will be three in-person laboratory days. 

This program requires a two-year service commitment with HealthPoint, which begins upon the completion of the Apprenticeship Program. 

Your contribution to the team includes: 

  • Remain in good standing with apprentice training program and complete WACH coursework and required training modules and will be periodically evaluated using patient care competencies provided through the WACH MA Apprentice training program.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, laboratory area and lavatory with supplies before the start of the day, at the end of the day and as needed throughout the day.
  • Room and prepare patients for exams including chief complaint and vital signs and request reports needed for patient care.
  • Provide assistance with patient exams, and medical procedures.
  • Perform laboratory procedures including, but not limited to, anterior nasal swabbing, nasopharngeal swabbing hemoglobin, rapid strip, urine chemstrips, blood glucose and pregnancy tests.
