JOB TITLE:
Assistant Professor
JOB PURPOSE:
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is seeking to hire two tenure-track faculty in Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence or Blockchain and Distributed Systems with an emphasis on Cybersecurity.
We seek scholars with expertise in areas such as, but not limited to: systems and network aspects of security and privacy, software security, machine learning and security, blockchain and distributed systems, human factors of security and privacy, mobile and cloud security, web security, digital forensics and cryptography; and other emerging topics such as security in quantum computing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain a strong research program and work with colleagues in the department to develop educational and research in Cybersecurity and Applications.
The successful candidates’ responsibilities will include developing a vigorous independent research program supported by external grant funding, high-quality teaching of EECS courses, mentoring of graduate students, working collaboratively with faculty and staff, and service to the university and state.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field by date of appointment.
- Research productivity in Cybersecurity or Cybersecurity Applications as demonstrated by the number and quality of publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and/or other relevant research impact (e.g., peer-reviewed datasets, scientific software, or other complementary assessments of impact and influence).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience and/or demonstrated potential to develop an externally funded research program in Cybersecurity and Applications.
- Experience in teaching at the undergraduate level and interest in working in a team environment to develop new undergraduate offerings.
- Potential for excellence in teaching, training, and/or mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Excellent communication, organization, and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the university’s continuing commitment to freedom of expression on campus.
