Description of Work

Works closely with and reports directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor I. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following:
- Functioning at the journey level in two or more technical trades (electrical, plumbing, masonry, heating and air, or similar specializations) in connection with maintenance of facilities, related equipment and machinery.
- Completing complex work assignments which require planning and coordination of multiple trade disciplines.
- Working assigned tasks independently and referring very technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration.
- Supervising offender workers engaged in semiskilled, unskilled, or of skilled maintenance assignments.
- Ensuring compliance with work orders.
- Maintaining equipment in proper working condition.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $41,206 - $72,113

Necessary Special Qualifications:

May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
