The Opportunity:

Picarro, Inc. is looking for a Systems Engineer to join their Environmental Solutions team. In this role, you will help improve their top-quality emissions monitoring systems, such as:

  • Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
  • Workplace Monitoring Systems (WMS)
  • Real-time Fenceline Monitoring Systems (FMS)

The successful candidate will need to be personable, have a strong engineering background, and hold exceptional organizational skills.

 

This is a remote job, but you’ll need to travel occasionally to the company’s headquarters in Santa Clara, CA, and to some client locations.

 

 

Primary Duties

  • Keep Picarro’s Data Collection Units (DCU) and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) up to date for all CEMS, WMS, and FMS solutions.
  • Manage and maintain system infrastructure, including making updates and running tests.
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot SCADA integration solutions based on project needs.
  • Find and fix software issues, especially after deployment.
  • Work with the team and gather feedback from field staff to improve systems.

  • Be flexible and ready to tackle a variety of technical challenges beyond your specialized niche.
  • Help develop and design new methods.
  • Provide emergency support for regulatory solutions as directed by managers or field engineers.
  • Stay informed about customer and regulatory requirements affecting system design.
  • Define SCADA solution requirements by working with clients or analyzing documents.
  • Keep detailed records of travel and action reports.
  • Create presentations for internal or external use when needed.
  • Train new employees to help them grow while ensuring schedules meet regulatory compliance.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 7+ years of experience in an industrial role as either an electrical engineer, SCADA engineer, or software engineer.
  • Certifications and/or professional project work different communication protocols, specifically Modbus TCP, OPC, and Ethernet/IP
  • Proficiency in Javascript, Python, and C++
  • Ability to interpret and create P&ID drawings for multiple systems in industrial settings
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time including to our headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills and ability to thrive in a team setting
  • Ability to stay current on best practices, emergency technologies, and industry trends by self-learning
  • Bachelors degree in engineering discipline (electrical, software, mechanical, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher is preferred

 

 

Benefits:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000-$145,000. Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualification, skills, knowledge, level, and pay of employees in similar positions.
