The role

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, ICF is seeking to hire an Assistant Corporate Controller (Senior Director level) Accounting Policy.  The Assistant Controller, Accounting Policy is a key leadership position, and expected to provide operational and thought leadership in the areas of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and enhance the newly constituted Technical Accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • The Assistant Controller, Accounting Policy will be the subject matter expert on accounting policies, their application, and providing guidance to the various stakeholders in the company. Specifically, this position will:
  • Review complicated accounting issues and makes recommendations for appropriate treatment.
  • Document and research financial, tax and regulatory reporting changes, and implementation of proposed accounting standards and determining the potential impact on the Company.
  • Lead in the preparation of accounting transaction memos detailing significant transactions.
  • Responsible for the preparation and updating of accounting policies and maintenance of the Company on-line accounting policy manual
  • Lead interaction with auditors on technical accounting matters
  • Responsible for providing training related to accounting policies and new accounting standards
  • Assist the Assistant Controller of SEC Reporting in the review of quarterly consolidated financial statements, and related SEC disclosures for public filings including forms: 10K, 10Q, and 8Ks. 
  • Play a key role in support of M&A transactions by providing technical accounting consulting/advisory services to support which includes due diligence. Assist with target company's implementation of acquiring company's accounting policies and any other related project management.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc requests from members within the accounting department and other areas as needed.
     

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area of focus
  • 15+ years of related experience, with a minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience
  • Strong, hands-on U.S. GAAP knowledge and experience with complex accounting matters
  • CPA required
  • Previous experience with technical accounting at a public company
  • Prior assistant controller experience at a public company strongly preferred, including operational accounting experience
  • Experience in managing a team and working in a matrixed organization
