The Global Head Commercial Scheduling & Operations is responsible for leading and managing the company’s commercial scheduling across marine and non-marine operations, reporting through the Integrated Supply, Trading, and Optimization organization. This role ensures seamless execution of commodity movements, accurate inventory management, cost control, and dispute resolution while supporting traders and optimizing commercial outcomes. The Director will oversee a multidisciplinary team, provide strategic direction, and serve as a key interface between trading, supply, and external counterparties.
A Day in the Life
- Serve as a key senior architect and partner in the design of LYB’s future state of Integrated Supply, Trading and Asset Optimization model.
- Lead, mentor, and develop an organization of commercial schedulers.
- Establish best practices for scheduling management across global operations.
- Align operational activities with trading strategies, ensuring profitability, compliance, and risk management.
- Drive continuous improvement in CTRM (Commodity Risk Trading Management) systems, logistics processes, and cost modeling.
- Understanding of price risk exposure and how it is impacted by scheduling activities.
- Ability to understand, model and manage operational risks, enabling LYB’s commercial teams to create scenario analysis and improve risk-weighted decision making.
- Oversee coordination of product movements to third parties, supporting traders in execution.
- Optimize pipeline utilization through analytics and scheduling best practices
- Model and maintain run-outs of terminals, caverns, pipelines and other product storage facilities.
- Oversee marine scheduling activities including vessel nominations, inventory forecasting, generate load plans and event recording (NOR, all-fast, etc.).
- Ability to lead and develop teams involved in complicated logistics operations such as product blending, lightering and multi-port load/re-load and discharge operations.
- Maintain deep organizational expertise in scheduling mechanics and risk mitigation.
- Act as escalation point for counterparties.
You Bring This Value
- 12+ years of experience in commodity scheduling, chartering, logistics, or commercial operations. Experience managing teams globally.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related field.
- Passion for developing people, with the ability to coach team and influence learning and growth across the broader organization.
- Strong background in marine and non-marine scheduling operations.
- Proven track record of managing costs, resolving disputes, and optimizing scheduling operations.
- Experience with CTRM systems and inventory forecasting tools.
- Expertise in marine logistics, port operations, and vessel assurance.
- Financial acumen with ability to model and manage variable costs.
- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in trading and supply integration.
- Analytical mindset with ability to forecast, optimize, and mitigate risks.
