JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Cellular & Molecular Physiology at the Penn State College of Medicine, in Hershey, PA in the Yengo lab, is seeking a part-time candidate (approx 20 hours a week) for a Research Technologist to collect and organize data for the use in reports and other presentations, maintain and order supplies/equipment as needed for the lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Perform general lab molecular biology projects that include PCR, restriction digestion, mutagenesis reactions, ligations, plasmid preps.
• Prepare samples for sequencing and sequence analysis.
• Prepare cell culture and production of recombinant virus for myosin expression.
• Assist with lab organization to include ordering the chemicals/plastics and cataloging the freezers etc.
• Follow general lab safety protocols.

The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:  

• Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check  
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
• Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
