Job Description Summary
As the Senior Project Manager – Fuels, you will be responsible for comprehensive project management, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction for Fuel Business (Global Nuclear Fuel) projects. You will be the primary contact for specific fuel projects and will lead all aspects of project delivery, including coordination with internal functions, vendors, and customers to scope and execute deliverables. You will work collaboratively with the Product Managers, the Manufacturing team, the Fuels Engineering team and other key members of the Fuels Business to define requirements and deliver high quality outcomes; including coordination with internal functions, vendors, and customers to scope and execute deliverables. The ideal candidate has a passion for nuclear energy, extensive experience in the nuclear industry, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements effectively.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of project management for assigned projects, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and resource management. Projects may include design engineering, licensing, equipment procurement, oversight of contractors / vendors, and development of new product offerings.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, business policies and all aspects of quality.
- Ensure government project compliance to applicable business practices and Gov. regs and standards.
- Interface with government project leadership for audits, property tracking, government sourcing, finance, and contract management.
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight for project teams, ensuring projects are delivered within schedule and cost constraints.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, and schedules.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Monitor project performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and report progress to stakeholders and customers- both internal and external.
- Monitors project cost and schedule progress and takes actions to address variances.
- Negotiate contract terms and manage change orders as needed to address project scope changes or non-standard events.
- Develop specialized knowledge in nuclear energy and stay updated on the latest technical developments in the field.
- Use technical expertise for data analysis to support project decisions and recommendations.
- Works to build consensus, influences a matrixed project team and stakeholders. Mentors project team as needed.
- Maintain access to the fuel manufacturing facility to oversee contractors performing work in the clean and contaminated areas of the factory.
- Interface with facilities personnel, industrial safety, and EHS to ensure project work is performed safely by establishing stop work criteria and ensure the regulatory requirements for performing work in the facility are maintained.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university or college (equivalent experience/education in the nuclear industry will be considered, such as Senior Reactor Operator with project management experience).
- Minimum 5 years experience in the Nuclear industry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Management
- Minimum 3 years managing medium- to large-scale projects (with multi-disciplinary team).
Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel ~15+% domestically and internationally.
- Preferred work location is the Wilmington, NC Headquarters but highly qualified remote candidates will be considered.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Characteristics:
- PMP Certification
- Demonstrated experience in the nuclear industry, with a solid understanding of nuclear project requirements
- Extensive experience in the nuclear power industry.
- Demonstrated supervision / oversight of contractors with a working knowledge of labor and scope dispute resolution methods.
- Proven track record in managing complex projects
- Government project management experience
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situ
