About the role

Job Description

The Process Engineering and Test Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical direction for injection molding process engineering, mold testing, process validation, and continuous improvement activities. Leading a multi-functional group of engineers and technicians, this role ensures molding processes are safe, efficient, scalable, and aligned with company and industry standards while supporting the integration of new materials, tooling, and technologies. The manager partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Global MPE&E teams to drive operational excellence, standardization, and long-term manufacturing capability growth.

 

Job Description

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of Process Engineers, Process Technicians, and Materials Engineers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and results.

  • Lead workforce capability development by identifying areas of proficiency that need improvement, establishing development plans, and ensuring appropriate technical training resources, programs, and domain expertise are available to support organizational objectives.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and career development planning to support employee growth and engagement.

  • Lead all aspects of injection molding process performance, ensuring alignment with standardized operating procedures while identifying and implementing opportunities for quality improvement, waste reduction, productivity enhancement, and cost savings.

  • Drive process optimization initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, scientific molding practices, and waste elimination models.

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to process capability, quality performance, productivity, scrap reduction, and operational efficiency.

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for complex molding process issues, ensuring timely resolution and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.

  • Maintain deep expertise in injection molding, scientific molding, process validation, material behavior, process control systems, and mold testing methodologies.

A key component of this role is aligning cross-functional efforts across engineering, production, and quality teams to deliver high-performance outcomes and future-ready capabilities in manufacturing. 

 

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Extensive years of progressive experience in injection molding, process engineering, or manufacturing engineering environments.

  • Proven leadership or management experience leading technical teams.

  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional improvement initiatives and technical projects

  • Experience working in global or multi-site manufacturing environments preferred.

 

Certifications & Technical Skills

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, and Power BI.

  • Strong experience with scientific molding, Design of Experiments (DOE), process validation protocols, and statistical analysis.

  • Familiarity with mold testing equipment, validation methodologies, and process monitoring technologies preferred.

  • Knowledge of process capability analysis, SPC, FMEA, and risk assessment methodologies preferred.
