Sr. Accountant - Richland County Treasurer's Office

This position is responsible for performing general accounting duties of the Richland County Treasurer's Office. This includes preparing bank reconciliations; monitoring investments and interest posting journal entries and generating a daily positive pay file. 

This position monitors all deposits and withdrawals from treasury bank accounts. This position reports to the Manager of Accounting and Deputy County Treasurer and requires a high level of communication to them regarding the status of tasks at this position. 

This position regularly interacts with employees in other departments, bank officials, co-workers and the general public. This position may be required to perform special projects as assigned by an immediate supervisor or other management personnel.

The incumbent is required to use various software including the Workday Program, spreadsheets, databases, word processing and a tax collection, accounting and reporting software package. 

Regularly uses online banking software to monitor bank accounts before statements have been received. Annually assists in viewing the general ledger at year end so necessary adjustments can be made before the final year end close out. Annually assists external auditors with records of bank accounts and investments.

The incumbent interacts regularly with county departments, bank officials and the general public and must possess good written and verbal communication skills. Extreme tact, poise and diplomacy are required when dealing with departments, bank officials and the general public.

Attention to detail is crucial in reconciling numerous bank statements and posting daily interest on numerous repurchase agreements and investments. The incumbent is responsible for posting all wires and void checks.
 

Compensation Minimum: $62,509.27
