GENERAL DUTIES

  • Leads Emergency Management at the system level by communicating with and developing staff members and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.
    Directs plans for disaster preparedness, incident response planning, mitigation efforts and campus drills/training.
  • Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Management Program. Includes security, crisis intervention, emergency training for the organization and surrounding communities and operation of the specialized training center for infectious disease outbreaks.
  • Responsible for delivery and instruction of newly developed courses.
  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports.
  • Oversees and conducts incident response planning, situational awareness and disaster preparedness training. Oversees, plans, organizes, evaluates activities surrounding response, mitigation and recovery.
  • Develops system-wide goals, standards for emergency response and mitigation. Serves as a liaison to system entities, provides support, inspects facilities and equipment, assists with planning, implementation and evaluation of exercises.
  • Collaborates with all of the system hospitals and ambulatory sites to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Is responsible for the integration of member institutions as it relates to staff, emergency management policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the notification of the leadership team of the security and risk implications of all current and future business-related activities. Surveys the workplace to evaluate accident risks and takes appropriate actions.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with local municipalities, fire and police and similar entities in order to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination and training.
  • Maintain emergency response related equipment and agreements.
  • Regulatory and survey readiness oversight for CMS, The Joint Commission, EPA, DOT, and DEQ requirements.
  • Business and system ownership of emergency communication and reporting platforms and Medical Waste Management including vendor management and contract accountability.


EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years Progressive leadership and management experience in a healthcare organization


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related field or emergency management
