Job Description Summary:

Responsible for providing leadership and supervision of the Access and Disability Support programs, campus operations, and staff in a designated region (north, central or south) of the Austin Community College district. Reports to Executive Dean, Access and Disability Support

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises, hires, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and monitors performance of staff while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends termination for positions supervised.
  • Assists the Executive Dean of Access and Disability Support in overseeing the daily operations of ACC’s Access and Disability Support areas district-wide and offices within their designated region.
  • Provides leadership in all areas of Access and Disability Support campus operations, ensuring effectiveness and consistency of campus services, and facilitates program operations training for all staff. 
  • Explores and monitors appropriate outreach opportunities to communities and students within the assigned region to recruit newly eligible students. 
  • Collaborates with the Executive Dean of Access and Disability Support interviewing staffing needs and implements adjustments to improve the effectiveness and consistency of campus services and customer service within the assigned region.
  • Coordinates and consults with the Executive Dean of Access and Disability Support and other Access and Disability Support Regional Directors to ensure a consistent and seamless student experience with regard to services districtwide.
  • Identifies campus and program-based accessibility and equity barriers for students with disabilities and collaborates with ACC departments and programs to develop solutions to those barriers.
  • Participates in the collection, monitoring and maintenance of program, service, and student data.  Produces statistical reports and summaries regarding regional campus-based programs and services and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Establishes, measures, and monitors the effectiveness of access and disability supports in the educational process and makes recommendations for improvements to ensure continuous quality and customer service improvement.
  • Participates with college leadership in regional and districtwide collection, review and analysis of student data.  Makes recommendations regarding student support services.
  • Provides guidance for the assigned region to maintain compliance with federal regulations and requirements of the Department of Education, Title II & III of the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehab Act, and ACC policies and procedures.
  • Assesses training needs for faculty, staff, and students within the assigned region regarding, but not limited to, the American with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, general accessibility concepts and Universal Design principles. Arranges or provides training or programming
