Summary

Provides protection for personnel and property in designated area of responsibility. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Education

Required: High School Graduate or GED equivalent

Experience

Required: 2 or more years in law enforcement or security work.

Certifications

Required: Must complete training (Level III) for Texas Security Officer Commission and receive Security Officer Comission within 90 days of hire. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within 60 days of employment or transfer date into the department. Renewal is required every 2 years.

Preferred: Texas Security Officer Commission Level III

REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to perform continuous physical exertion activities (going up and down multiple flights of stairs, standing and walking for extended periods of time, carrying people in emergency situations, etc.), as needed. Must meet all physical requirements of the job. This could require an annual physical; 
  • Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment (Masks, gowns, security-related equipment, etc.), as required; 
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, as well as an annual background check; 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills a must (includes using proper grammar and spelling or report writing responsibilities); 
  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner; 
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment; 
  • Ability to frequently prepare written reports and provide quality customer service; · Ability to handle both common and crisis situations, calmly and efficiently.

Protect life, property, information, and reputation by employing situational awareness; monitoring and securing designated entrances/exits; observing the flow of employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors, and visitors into the facility; verifying credentials, and providing directions to authorized areas. Evaluate and respond in a timely manner to events and incidents in accordance with System policies. Provides exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors, and physicians. Respond immediately, or as the appropriate, to emergency/unusual situations including disturbances, disruptive employees, patients, vendors & visitors, fires, and medical emergencies (i.e., including, but not limited to restraining agitated patients in accordance with Tenet Corporate Security and facility policy). Prepares and submits all required incident documentation according to Tenet Corporate Security and facility policies and procedures. Maintains in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties, as well as working knowledge of regulatory requirements.

Education:

Required: High school graduate or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Required: 2 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military background; or a minimum of 3 years of strong customer service roles with the ability and willingness to learn security practices.

Certifications:

Required: Licensure/certification as required by state law. Valid state driver's license. AHA BLS.
