We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Electrical Systems Engineering Manager to help support our Home Furniture Components business.  Our Home Furniture business brings an intense focus on the customer, innovation, world-class manufacturing capabilities, and a global footprint together to create full-package solutions for the industry.  We do not make furniture.  We make furniture more comfortable.  We need the best people on our team to support our strategy, and your work will ensure people around the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

As an Electrical Systems Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, collaborate with customers, and drive supplier activities.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by leading the design, integration, and validation activities of electrical systems in a product development environment.  This is a global role with travel required both domestically and internationally. While this role does allow for remote work, you must be local to Kansas City and able to commute in periodically as needed. We're looking for candidates in the KC metro area.

 

So, what will you be doing as a(n) Electrical Systems Engineering Manager?

  • Lead product development activities related to component and system design, system requirement development, functional analysis, validation, and support.
  • Act as the key technical contact for electrical systems, creating test and validation methods, tools, and data collection processes.
  • Drive root cause investigations; develop and implement corrective actions for system and component failures.
  • Foster cross-functional teamwork in a matrix organization, collaborating with various teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Engage with customers to identify needs, define deliverables, and enable desired product functions.
  • Manage supplier activities from product needs through validation and ongoing support during production.
  • Deliver electrical systems technology and platform development roadmaps.
  • Take responsibility for team task deliverables, goals, and objectives.
  • Drive engineering systems and team development, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Travel requirements approximately 25% travel, both domestic and international.

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or similar field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electronics/electrical engineering experience with formal training.
  • Experience in authoring technical functional requirements for electrical systems, including detailed documentation and technical drawings.
  • Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams and analyze data to drive decision-making.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to interface with hardware and software developers, project managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with suppliers on component and system development, including technical conversations and integration considerations.
  • Design and technical collaboration skills, including the ability to lead technical engineering design teams (people management experience preferred).
  • Ability to lead technical teams; people management experience preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of global electronics suppliers and supply chains is preferred.
