Raytheon is seeking a Business Development (Requirements and Capabilities) Director for the Naval Power (NP) Shipboard Missiles business. The Director will lead and drive a team of business development professionals and be accountable to more than $3B in annual bookings / new orders. The Shipboard Missiles Business Development Director and their team will be responsible for identifying, shaping, capturing, and growing new opportunities and capabilities. The Director’s objective is to grow the business while maintaining and strengthening existing customer relationships.
The portfolio includes Raytheon’s Standard Missile portfolio (SM-2, SM-3, and SM-6), Evolved SeaSparrow Missile (ESSM), and the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) and spans domestic and international customers. The Director must be a self-starter, driven, understand customer requirements / operational needs and be able to translate those to solutions, have experience in business capture in addition to business development with a proven track record to deliver business results. The Director must be experienced in the technical, programmatic, and operational challenges of developing, deploying, and sustaining complex technologies, software, and hardware for defense applications.
What You Will Do
- Grow existing business, generate new opportunities, and capture new business - Develop a deep understanding of existing and prospective customers, understand current and future Naval Missiles and capabilities, and understand the competitive landscape. Develop and execute coordinated approaches to new business opportunities. Develop and execute comprehensive capture campaigns. Be responsible for the discretionary spending budgets to capture new business.
- Develop and maintain relationships with critical U.S. Department of Defense program office stakeholders and international customers - Identify new business opportunities, proactively communicate and be part of developing the strategic direction for our products and markets and be the voice of the customer
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and partners - Collaborate closely with business line leaders, engineering leads, manufacturing, capture and proposal, other business/product lines, partner companies, and customers
- Communicate our value to customers, partners, competitors, and the interested public - Be the business development face of the organization and be directly involved in go-to-market strategy development and execution of go-to-market plans
- Provide vision to your team members and recruit and retain key personnel to resource the requirements of the business plan
- Collaborate with RTX Global Government Relations (GGR) at the Federal, State/Local on Public Policy in their advocation and development of new technologies and our solutions
- Travel up to 50% of the time (domestically & internationally)

Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 14 years of prior Aerospace and Defense experience or Advanced Degree and a minimum of 12 years of experience
- Military experience in acquiring defense products, and/or military experience employing Naval Weapons Systems, and/or working at a defense contractor to develop and deploy Naval Weapons Systems products
- Experience with project and/or program management with business/financial reporting

- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
- Military/Operational experience employing Shipboard Weapons Systems and tactics development
