Role Overview
The Treasury & Insurance Controller ensures the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of Pfizer’s global Treasury and Insurance financial reporting. This role partners with the SVP & Treasurer, Global Insurance, and Controller teams to strengthen controls, align with US GAAP and SEC requirements, and enhance processes across global operations. Reporting to the VP, Global Divisional Controller, this position is part of the Divisional Controllers Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Oversee Treasury and Insurance accounting and disclosures (e.g., investments, derivatives, hedge accounting, debt, FX, insurance recoveries). Ensure reporting accuracy, policy adherence, and audit readiness.
- Technical Accounting Expertise: Provide guidance on complex transactions, new standards, and treasury-related issues. Lead development of technical accounting memos and drive compliance with GAAP and Corporate Policy.
- Controls & Compliance: Oversee internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit remediation. Strengthen risk management through coordination with Corporate Audit, Financial Controls, and KPMG.
- Policy & Process: Maintain and improve accounting policies, streamline reporting processes, and promote automation and standardization across systems and regions.
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with Treasury, Insurance, and Corporate Finance leaders on financial strategy, new accounting standards, and business initiatives.
- Leadership: Provide direction, mentorship, and training to divisional finance teams; represent Treasury in cross-functional accounting initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; CPA required; MBA preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in accounting, including Big 4 experience; deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and treasury accounting; experience leading in complex, global organizations.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities; proven record in controls management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration; ERP system proficiency.
