Alpha Omega is seeking a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist for managing and processing payroll for employees who work on government contracts. The payroll specialist should be able to use Deltek Costpoint with accuracy and efficiency. Given the specialized nature of government contracting and the regulatory requirements involved, attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance are crucial aspects of your role as a payroll specialist in this field.
Responsibilities
- Timekeeping and Attendance: Monitoring and managing employee timekeeping and attendance records to accurately calculate hours worked, overtime, and leave accruals.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as regulations specific to government contracting.
- Reporting: Generating payroll and timekeeping reports for internal use, as well as reports required by government agencies such as the Department of Labor or the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- Audit Support: Assisting with internal and external audits related to payroll, including audits by government agencies or third-party auditors.
- Systems Management: Utilizing Deltek CostPoint, accounting software and UKG, payroll software to process payroll efficiently and accurately, and staying up to date with any changes or updates to payroll systems.
- Communication: Providing assistance and support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries, such as pay stubs, tax forms, or direct deposit setup.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement and implementing best practices to streamline payroll processes and enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Training and Development: Staying informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements Skills & Experience:
- At least 4 years proven experience as payroll specialist.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll
- Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
- Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software (e.g. Deltek Costpoint) and databases
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
- Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Comfortable with payroll software and systems used by government contractors, such as Deltek Costpoint, ADP, or similar platforms.
- Adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality regarding sensitive payroll information.
- Capability to analyze payroll data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues effectively.
