Scholarship Program Assistant
1199SEIU Benefit and Pension FundsAbout the role
Responsibilities:
• Provides assistance to eligible children and staff members in navigating the application process for the Joseph Tauber Scholarship Programs and supports the function with customer service and clerical activities
• Review and process college scholarship applications and payments in accordance with 1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Fund eligibility guidelines and 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation policies and procedures
• Perform data entry of all scholarship applications
• Respond to member’s application and inquiries verbally (via the call center), in-person and in writing.
• Assist in preparation of various reports for the scholarship program
• Maintain accurate files, records and confidentiality
• Participate in workshops and other activities for members
• Responsible for the accuracy, follow-through and timely completion of projects and assignments
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required, some College or Degree preferred
• Minimum two (2) years clerical experience in a general office environment required
• Basic skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required; and database application preferred 1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Funds’ Eligibility System (V3) a plus
• Basic understanding of title IV (Financial Aid) & NYS Grant
• Call Center experience (moderate call volume) preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills a must
• Must be able to work flexible hours including Saturday and evenings
• Ability to travel to other office locations in NY Metro area (i.e. Hicksville, NY) required
• Bilingual a plus (Spanish, Creole, Russian, etc)
