Position Summary
The Director of Finance will provide financial oversight and management for Heritage Academy, ensuring financial stability and compliance. This person is responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, accounting operations, grants management, and audit preparation. The Director of Finance will collaborate with leadership to support financial planning and operational efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and managing the annual budget, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivables, payroll, and general ledger management.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, tracking actuals against budget and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Support the grant administration function, ensuring proper monitoring, tracking, and compliance with federal and private-sector grants.
- Assist in external audits, coordinating with auditors and ensuring timely completion of required financial reports.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with school leadership and department heads to provide financial insights for decision-making.
- Maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and vendors to support financial operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, or related field; Master’s degree in Accounting and CPA preferred
Experience: 5 + years of experience in financial management, accounting, or related fields, experience in school finance, nonprofit finance, and grant management strongly preferred.

- Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Type of fingerprint clearance: Shall be fingerprint checked pursuant to A.R.S 15-512
Physical functions: Must be able to remain in a stationary (standing or sitting) position for 50% of the time.
Equipment used: Frequent computer and telephone use is expected.
Work Environment: Office setting with occasional travel.
Travel: 25-50% of the time
