The Contract Management Director for the US manages and coordinates the contract managers within the United States as well as ensuring that the Contract Management Strategy Plans are implemented.  The successful candidate will perform the following main tasks linked to the business activities of the Americas Region:

 

-  Put in place the appropriate contract management tools and processes, in particular regarding correspondences, notifications, insurances, Extension of Time (EOT) claims, and variation requests / orders and claims preparation files.

-  Anticipate events and risks and propose various alternative proactive solutions in furtherance of Alstom’s business objectives.

-  Define claim strategies for critical projects in the US.

-  Ensure that the projects within the US perform correct/accurate risk assessments, including supporting the Project Core Team Members in establishing and quantifying the projects or the Region’s” risk appetite,” i.e., the level of risk we are prepared to accept.

-  Reporting on claim status and strategies to Management.

-  Lead and support the Contract Management community in the US in executing proactive contract management.

-  Support delay analysis in Extension of Time claims.

-  Assist Finance in the presentation of costs within claims.

-  Liaise with the Procurment/Sourcing team for development of pass-through claims from suppliers to customers/partners.

-  Ad-hoc support to Legal for tender assessment of contractual risks and opportunities.

-  Drive claim preparation, claim strategies and claim roadmaps to protect the Region’s P&L

-  Ensure that Project Contract Managers and Key Supplier Contract Managers together with Project Team implement tools for the reliable filing and easy access of the incoming and outgoing correspondence.

-  Responsible to provide support to the Project Management teams in identifying any potential risks that may impact the projects or profitability of the company, including to assess threats and put plans in place to avoid, reduce or transfer risks as appropriate.

-  Drive identification and preparation of offensive and/or defensive claims for critical projects in the US.

-  Responsible to consolidate appropriate reporting of US contract and claim management activities

-  Ensure timely and reliable Contract Management reporting including KPI

-  Ensure Contract Managers are actively participating trainings and promote such trainings to Project Core Teams

 

The position is part of the US Legal & Contract Management department currently composed of approximately 50 lawyers and contract managers based in various locations in the US .

 

Education:

A degree in Engineering, Finance, Technical, Economics, Business Sciences or Law.  Postgrad in Management or Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus. 

 

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in progressively more responsible positions in a contract management / project legal / project management/ project finance role.

Experience in industrial sectors, preferably in the railway business, in oil & gas or other construction-related fields is a plus

Experience in project-based Contract Management

Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.  Fluency in second language (e.g., French) a plus.  Professional certification in Contract Management, also a plus.
