Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is seeking a DevSecOps & Software Assurance Engineer to join our team. This role is perfect for a cybersecurity professional passionate about safeguarding mission-critical engineering and technology systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and information assurance, coupled with analytical thinking and technical skills. This position offers the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced cybersecurity, infrastructure, software, and compliance professionals in the aerospace and defense industries.

What You Will Do:

  • Support Information Assurance & Compliance: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Information Assurance (IA) programs and ensure compliance with frameworks such as NIST CSF, RMF, and NIST 800-171.
  • Conduct Security Assessments: Participate in security control assessments, audit preparation, and documentation reviews.
  • Enhance DevSecOps Practices: Implement and improve security controls, automated testing, and compliance requirements in CI/CD pipelines for software development.
  • Perform Technical Operations: Utilize scripting tools like Python or Bash to automate reporting, security analysis, and data collection.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and software engineering teams to improve security posture and ensure compliance.

What You Will Learn:

  • Cybersecurity Analysis: Analyze security data, identify vulnerabilities, and assist in remediation efforts to mitigate risks.
  • Risk Management & Governance: Contribute to risk identification, mitigation planning, and reporting on security trends.
  • Incident Response: Assist with security incident investigations, root cause analysis, and remediation tracking.
  • Secure Software Development: Gain hands-on experience in secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices, including code scanning, dependency management, and software supply chain security.
  • Modern Toolchains & Automation: Learn to use and enhance engineering toolchains, cloud-connected environments, and automation tools to improve security and operational efficiency.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date
  • Experience with security analysis tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, or similar technologies. 
  • Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages. 

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), Risk Management Framework (RMF), and security governance concepts. 
  • CompTIA CySA+, CEH, or other cybersecurity certifications. 
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, and network security concepts.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management processes. 
  • Exposure to virtualized and cloud computing environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware, K8s). 
  • Exposure to security operations, incident response, or vulnerability assessments. 
  • Experience with cybersecurity coursework, internships, laboratories, or academic projects involving risk assessment and security analysis.
