Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Application Development, the Senior Manager of Application Development will lead a growing team of results-driven Tech Leads and Software Developers, advancing and expanding the SSENSE portfolio of applications within the Corporate Systems domain. The Corporate Systems team builds and supports the technologies that are used to manage Financial and HR related processes.The ideal candidate should bring deep functional and technical knowledge of SAP platforms and understanding of Order to cash, Record to Report and Procure to Pay processes. The ideal candidate has the ability to see the big picture from both a technical and business perspective, leadership skills to motivate the team, and the foresight to strategize and drive the team in delivering corporate objectives. As a key player, the candidate will work to have an impact on our development and QA efforts, while influencing the product strategy and direction. The candidate’s role will be to enable collaboration between teams to solve complex and exciting challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Application Development Activities

• Manage multiple development teams while leading them in becoming models of excellence to the rest of the organisation

• Take accountability for the team’;s timely delivery of the technical and functional roadmaps

• Working with architects and technical leads, set the technical direction for the team, manage any technical escalations the technical leads are unable to answer, facilitate code reviews as needed, and communicate on the vision and the delivery planning, including supporting the senior leadership in defining the technical aspect of business cases to support business needs

• Govern and reach the expected technical quality standards results in the team’s deployment

• Understand both the dependencies faced by the teams, as well as the technical dependencies in an effort to orchestrate multi teams solution through different roles and functional ownerships

• Guide the team in the technical design and technical architecture of programming logic, in addition to facilitating technical exercises and pseudocoding to remove any potential technical barriers

• Suggest and support your product teams with the XF teams  necessary in driving the best outcome

• Experienced working with product teams in crafting technical solutions.  Support and challenge  the product perspective in negotiation and discussion of the functional goals

• Lead initiatives and actionable strategies to facilitate the recruitment of top talent

• Manage application development teams from initial inception of ideas to technical delivery 

• Work with the other development teams to design and implement best-in-class technical designs and approaches

• Work in collaboration with the Product Management team to ensure production schedules are adhered to and can be delivered upon

• Support in the establishment and review of technical and quality standards for the Technology team

• Ensure technical and quality standards are enforced throughout the software development lifecycle

• Facilitate and lead the day-to-day activities of the development teams within an Agile/Scrum environment

• Provide visibility on status of development, quality, operations, team velocity, and system performance 

• Work with Senior Leadership to identify and implement new initiatives to support the development activities (Cloud, DevOps, Performance Engineering, Architecture, etc.) 

• Support Senior Leadership with the development of Business Cases from a Technical point-of-view, in order to support business needs
