Clinical Nurse II- Duke Children's at Creekstone

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II in our Duke Children’s Specialty Creekstone clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient intake including: obtaining vital signs (including manual blood pressures), administering survey tools, conducting educational assessments (patients/guardians), medication review, assisting patients with preparing questions for provider visit, assisting patients with ambulation/toileting,
  • Completing procedural tasks including: administering specialty medication injections, provide teaching for self-administered injections, insulin administration/verification, oral medications according to protocols and provider orders. Full assessments as needed. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered. Provide patient/family education for specialty injections and assess for understanding, bill for nursing procedures. Place ambulatory BP monitors, provide patient education for operation, download upon clinic return, recognize and troubleshoot inconsistencies in data, report to provider. Perform EKG, POCT, assist with prior authorizations and triage as available.
  • Documentation in electronic health record.  
  • Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
  • Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care.
  • Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources.
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and formal learners.
  • Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

Job Eligibility Requirements:

  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
  • Twelve months of pediatric experience is required.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

 

Job Schedule:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
