About the role

Job Summary

The Clinical Informatics optimization specialist is a subject matter expert who assists with planning, design, development, testing, end user training, implementation support, and adoption of Electronic Health Record to achieve clinical transformation that results in improved patient care outcomes, end user efficiency and financial outcomes. The Specialist will understand laboratory department workflow and required documentation and apply this knowledge in the support of build and implementation and of clinical systems specific to Laboratory Services, all departments.


Essential Functions

  • Support the facility laboratory and IT staff with both clinical and technical details required to trouble shoot issues. 
  • Support CHS Senior Director of Laboratory Services in executing laboratory related changes and resolving issues. 
  • Lead/facilitate work-groups charged with defining design options and making design recommendations. 
  • Assist manager, clinical informatics and the associate chief medical information officer in translating the optimization initiatives into specific changes in the EHR that are executable. 
  • Effectively communicate with multidisciplinary teams and manage and execute change in a complex multi facility environment.
  • Participate in creating test scenarios and conducting user acceptance testing. 
  • Develop training materials for end users to assist with deployment of changes, exhibit excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work products, ensure up to date project documentation. 
  • Provides reporting assistance and serves as a subject matter expert to the clinical informatics/lab community to facilitate data driven changes to achieve meaningful outcomes; provides summaries of laboratory clinical systems issues and to lab business partners to enable meaningful collaboration and address specific clinical questions/scenarios to facilitate timely resolution.
  • Understand and comply with all CLIA regulations, State and Local Laboratory statutes and The Joint Commission requirements for Laboratories. Understand and comply with Medicare COP, CMS regulations and CCI (Correct Coding Initiative). Be familiar with CPT and HPSPCS codes and Laboratory Billing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field required
  • Master's Degree in Health Informatics preferred
  • 3 + years of direct hospital laboratory experience

  • Familiarity with data collection and reporting processes.
