About the role

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking an experienced professional to join their team as the Director of Revenue and Guest Services. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to directly influence the financial direction and guest experience at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, while advancing the Zoo’s mission: to innovate at the intersection of people, animals and the environment to secure a healthy future for our planet and embodying Cleveland Metroparks Core Values: Welcome, Engage, Sustain, Innovate, Conserve and Connect.

The successful candidate will utilize analytical skills to study market trends, analyze sales and performance data and set ambitious yet achievable revenue objectives. A strong understanding of consumer behavior, competitive positioning, and seasonal demand patterns will be essential to drive revenue performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Business Planning: Analyze market trends, forecasts, and performance data to set revenue targets. Lead innovative strategies to grow sales, diversify revenue streams, and enhance profitability.
  • Operational Oversight & Implementation: Direct cross-functional initiatives from concept to execution, ensuring collaboration across departments including Purchasing, Planning, and Marketing. Oversee partnerships in Food Services, Retail, and other profit-sharing ventures.
  • Team Development & Management: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of regular and seasonal staff. Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and mission-driven service.
  • Financial Management: Administer the Guest Services budget, overseeing approximately $17 million in annual revenue. Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies to meet or exceed fiscal goals.
  • Guest Experience Excellence: Manage the daily operations of the Guest Services division including developing a high-performing team that delivers world-class service in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field required, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in budgeting, project management, general management, or revenue management.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered, provided it equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including staff, partners, and the general public.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively in both individual and group settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a consistent track record of accurate and efficient work.
  • Demonstrated leadership and business acumen, including strategic problem-solving, program management, deadline execution, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
  • Professional maturity and discretion, with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with a high level of initiative.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Work Schedule: Varies, includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to support operational needs.
